The exception born from exigency. The taste for performance of watches and automobiles maker created many legend along their common history.

Watches from the beginning were part of motor racing, 1911 Tag Heuer provided a clock for dashboard. But chronographs are witnesses and judges of victories, this gives to timekeepers in a unique position.

From the end of the 60’s partnerships blossomed, Oris and Ferrari, Tag Heuer and Williams. Watches collections inspired by motor racing starts to appears, Carrera, Monaco, to never stop, today Oris watches limited series Ralf Schumacher Chronograph is the best example.

Watch makers now use the same high tech material use in cars, case and claps are made of Titanium, dial in carbon fiber, a good example is the Kirium Formula 1 from Tag Heuer. Oris proposes bands in rubber for his BC3 and a technique of flexible horns on WilliamsF1 Day Date, that makes the watch perfectly fit the wrist.

Time after time watches from prestigious makers became automobiles alter ego. They share both a passion for consistency and precision; in any condition and pressure, confronted to the best competitors. A sport watch must resist as its owner to acceleration, temperature, it’s the instrument you can definitively count on.

Breitling and Bentley are the actors of a voluptuous relationship. But the ultimate homage from clock making for automobile is the « Monaco V4 » a watch still in development, shown in Basel in 2004 by Tag Heuer, last born of the legendary Monaco collection once wear by Steeve Mc Queen. Monaco V4 is built around four barrels, movement is transmitted by belt to a linear weight running like a piston, everything guided by ceramics balls. All wonders that will keep alive our passion for watches and automobiles for the next years.

Swiss Made or the ultimate label

Switzerland is leader of modern era for watch making, in the last 200 years it has brought the most innovative and prestigious watches factories in the world. Among the precursors were Cartier established in 1847, Tissot in 1853. Since this early time men and women lead by passion created in each period new watches brand, Piaget in 1874, Oris and Ebel respectively in 1904 and 1911, closer to our time watch company Bell & Ross was created in 1992.

Rhine area has also famous brands IWC in Schaffhausen is well known around the world. To support this leadership federation and organization have been created, the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Control) tests and assures movements quality, which made the reputation of Swiss watches.

Collaboration yes but still vivid competition that generates emulation and true innovation, 1847 Charles Antoine LeCoultre created the self-winding watch, in 1880 wristwatch started his long life. Portuguese collection in the 1930’s by IWC was among the first wristwatch with chronometer qualities. In the 60’s Monaco was the first square shape watch to be waterproof. Tissot made several innovation, anti-magnetic watch, case made of stone, and today the tactile T-Touch watch.

Another natural evolution was Jewell watches, Jaeger-Lecoultre engraves and inserts diamonds in his Reverso, and Piaget Tradition has a woven yellow gold bracelet.

One other strength of Swiss watches creators is their open mind to external venture, IWC and the Cousteau foundation, while watches and motor racing brought many partnerships. Watch passion is alive as never before, watches heart has never beaten faster, as the concept watch presented by Tag Heuer in Basel 2005, 360,000 vibrations per hour for a precision of 1/100th of a second.
